Nieuw-West is especially known for the recreation and nature areas Sloterplas and Tuinen van West where many people from Amsterdam spend a large part of their summer. The largest and greenest district originated by the merging of the former districts Geuzenveld/Slotermeer, Slotervaart and Osdorp. In these garden villages you can still find lots of low-rise buildings and green neighbourhoods. Due to the enormous demand for housing, a lot of new construction is being realized in this district. And the most important advantage? The area is close enough to the centre and is easily accessible by bike, but is not too expensive yet.
